Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed corner approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
