Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
